Office Open XML

MarkLogic Server can help your organization leverage the increasing amount of information created by and stored in Microsoft Office 2007. Because Microsoft Office saves files in Office Open XML (OOXML) format by default, any organization using Office 2007 is creating Open XML content and can benefit from MarkLogic Server to organize, reuse, and deliver this content.

Discover how to use MarkLogic to leverage Open XML.

Open XML is an XML specification for unstructured information stored in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel. MarkLogic Server allows your organization to leverage content stored in Open XML to reuse and repurpose existing content in new and profitable ways.

Learn how MarkLogic can benefit your organization here.

MarkLogic lets you combine all your Open XML-based content (as well as legacy content in other formats automatically transformed into XML) into a common repository. You can then build content applications that mine content for previously undiscovered information, integrate content from different sources, and publish content through multiple channels.

Open XML

  • Open XML was published by Ecma International as the Ecma 376 standard in December 2006. As an international standard, Open XML supports multiple languages and scripts.
  • Open XML is platform neutral, so that information and documents created by applications on one platform can be used by applications on other platforms.
  • Open XML is platform independent and easily coexists with other document file formats such as Open Document Format (ODF).
  • MarkLogic can be used to load, query, manipulate and render XML from Open XML or ODF.
